Lyricist-Complainant Simran Goraya of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar lodged an FIR against the owners of Vardhman Music Company Mr. Anil Jain and Mr. Yatin Jain for selling his song to another entity without his consent which was used in a Punjabi film. The accused Anil Jain and Yatin Jain had contacted Goraya to sell one of his songs �Shoot Da Order� under the assurance that Goraya would have 50% share in the earnings. However, according to Goraya, the accused supposedly sold the said song to K V Dhillon, owner of MP3 Music Company, who later used it in a film without the consent of Goraya. Investigating Officer, Sub Inspector Gursewak Singh stated that a case has been filed under Section 420 (cheating), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code, Section 52 A and 68 A of the Copyright Act has been lodged against the accused at the Division no. 5 Police Station. Section 52 A of the Copyright Act of 1957 deals with the particulars to be included in sound reecording and video films. Section 68 A of the Copyright Act deals with penalty for making false statements for the purpose of deceiving any authority or officer. Any person who makes a false statement or representation knowing the same to be false shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to one year or with fine or with both.
